My Fun Oscar's

by David Fernie
(Glasgow)

Hi

I Have 4 Oscars In A 4 FOOT Aqurium Tank. They Are Very Happy Fish and They Do Loads Of Tricks And Pretend To Be Dead At The Bottom Of Their Tank Till Its Prey Comes Near To It Then It Shoots Up And Eats The Prey. My Oscars Are Amazing! They Know I Am Their Owner And They Get Really Excited And Start Swimming Across The Tank And Hitting Against The Glass And Wagging Their Tails With Joy To See Me. All My Oscars are large And I Never Really Liked Them until Now. They Are Amazing To Me And I Never Want To Lose Them.

I Keep My Oscars In A Happy Mood And Clean Their Tank Every Month. They Have a Huge Tetra Tech External Filter Keeping Their Tank Clean.
And A Forgot To Say They Intend To Bite You If you Annoy Them And Stick Your Fingers In Their Tank. They Also Move Their Fake plants around so I can Never Give Them A Real Plant because It Will Get Eaten.

55 gal aquarium is big enough, if...
by: Anonymous

I too have more than one oscar in a 55 gallon tank. They are still small, as I bought them a few months ago as babies, but there are 3 in this tank. I have an undeground filtration system with a powerhead in each of the back corners and air pumped into the stream they produce. I recently added an external filter with dual filters and added an ammonia pack to one side and a carbon pack to the other after rinsing both off very well. The water is well aireated and fast moving. There is about 2-3" of gravel on the bottom. I also have a few live plants, but they are being eyeballed a lot lately, and I can tell their days are numbered. The 3 fish I have are a red, a tiger albino and a tiger. I would not recommend any more than 3 oscars in a 55 gal tank and it needs to be filtered excessively. I also do a 10% water change 2 to 3 times each week.

Your Fun Oscars
by: Kris-Tropical Fish Success

David,

Thank you for visiting and I can tell that you love your Oscars! Keep up the maintenance and be prepared to move them to a larger tank. Four Oscars or "O's" in one tank can get aggressive very quickly!
