Lonley Oscar ?

by Jody
(Westerville, Ohio)

I've had oscars for years. I usually would purchase 2 so they would be companions. Most of the time they would pair up and i guess hang out, they really never showed much of " i can't live with out you attitude" but not to long ago i purchased two and they were together from the start. They wouldn't move from one side of the tank without the other. They would always eat together. If one didn't come to the top of the tank to eat the other wouldn't eat. They were always together. I went on vacation and came home to find that one of them had gotten sick and soon died. since then the other oscar has not eaten and just sits at the bottom of the tank or just hovers at the top. This was back in early December and now its Feburuary. It makes me think that he misses the other because nothing else has changed.

Sulking
by: Kris@Tropical-Fish-Success

Thanks for visiting Tropical-Fish-Success.com,

Yes, it could possibly be your Oscar is sulking. Oscars are known to hide and pout in the back or corner of tanks.

Or you could have an oscar with a internal parasite. I would treat your oscar with medicated foods designed for internal parasites. When dosing chemical medications be sure to follow manufacturer instructions. Good Luck!
